Return and Refund Policy

Policy terms for returns, refunds, exchanges, and replacements

Last updated at - 14 October 2026

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. This Policy explains how to request a return, refund, repair, replacement or exchange from SalesAkart.

This Policy must be read with the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA), including sections 20, 55, 56 and 48-51, and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), including sections 42-44. The applicable right depends on the type of transaction, reason for return and statutory exceptions. Nothing in this Policy is intended to waive or reduce a right that South African law does not permit us to exclude.

The 15-calendar-day period is our ordinary return-request window. A qualifying online purchase may also have a separate seven-day ECTA cooling-off right; statutory rights are not reduced by this summary. Approved refunds are generally processed within five business days after inspection, subject to any statutory deadline.

A. Contact Us Promptly

If an item is damaged, defective, incorrect or not what you ordered, contact us as soon as reasonably possible at support@salesakart.com or +27 82 217 8609. Include your order number, a description of the issue and photographs where useful.

For ordinary return requests, contact us within 15 calendar days of delivery where possible. This is SalesAkart's customer-service request window; it does not replace or reduce statutory rights. For example, ECTA section 44 may give a consumer seven days after receipt of goods to cancel a qualifying electronic transaction without reason or penalty, subject to the exceptions in ECTA section 42(2). For qualifying defective or unsafe goods, CPA sections 55 and 56 may provide separate rights, including a six-month implied warranty period under section 56.

B. Eligibility and Condition

Where a return is permitted, we may ask you to return the item with its original packaging, accessories, manuals, tags and proof of purchase. Please take reasonable care of the product while a request is being assessed.

The condition and packaging requirements will be applied consistently with your legal rights. They will not be used to deny a remedy that applicable law requires us to provide.

C. Damaged, Defective or Incorrect Items

If you receive an item that is damaged, defective, unsafe or materially different from its description, contact us with the relevant details. CPA section 55 sets standards for goods supplied to consumers. Under CPA section 56, where goods fail to meet those standards within six months after delivery, a consumer may return them without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense, and may direct the supplier to repair or replace the goods or refund the price, subject to the terms of the Act. We will assess the issue and explain the applicable remedy and return or collection arrangements.

D. Change-of-Mind Returns and Online Purchases

For qualifying online purchases, ECTA section 44 generally allows a consumer to cancel an electronic transaction for goods without giving a reason and without penalty within seven days after receiving the goods. The only charge permitted under that section is the direct cost of returning the goods, and where payment has already been made, the refund must be made within 30 days after cancellation. This right is subject to the exclusions in ECTA section 42(2), which include specified types of goods and services.

Where an agreement resulted from direct marketing, CPA section 16 generally allows a consumer to rescind the agreement within five business days. Please contact us promptly and identify your order so that we can assess the applicable right.

E. Exceptions and Product-Specific Returns

A statutory cooling-off right does not apply to every electronic transaction. The exclusions relevant to ECTA section 44 are listed in ECTA section 42(2). Depending on the circumstances, these can include goods made to the consumer's specifications, clearly personalised goods, goods that by their nature cannot be returned or are likely to deteriorate or expire rapidly, certain unsealed audio/video recordings or computer software, and other categories expressly listed in that subsection.

No exclusion in this Policy removes a remedy for defective, unsafe, misdescribed or incorrectly supplied goods that is protected by the CPA or another applicable South African law.

G. Return Shipping Costs

1. Defective, Damaged, or Incorrect Goods (CPA Section 56) — Free Return Shipping (R0.00):

Where a return is due to goods that are defective, damaged, unsafe, or materially different from their description (as covered by CPA section 56), SalesAkart covers 100% of the return courier cost. We will arrange collection from your address or provide a prepaid return waybill at no cost to you (R0.00).

2. Change-of-Mind / Cooling-Off Returns (Within 15 Calendar Days of Delivery) — Customer's Expense:

For voluntary change-of-mind returns within our 15-calendar-day customer-service window (with no restocking fee), return shipping is at the customer's expense. You have two options:

  • Customer-Arranged Courier: You may ship the unused item in its original packaging to our Mayfair, Johannesburg address using any tracked courier service of your choice at your own cost; OR
  • SalesAkart-Arranged Courier Collection: Upon request, SalesAkart can book a return pickup via our courier partner (The Courier Guy / ShipLogic). The direct return courier fee — typically R60.00 – R150.00 for standard parcels up to 5 kg, or R150.00 – R350.00+ for heavy/oversized items — will be quoted and confirmed with you prior to collection. This fee will be deducted from the final refund amount. Carrier terms available at thecourierguy.co.za/terms-conditions/.

For a qualifying ECTA section 44 cooling-off cancellation, the only charge permitted by section 44(2) is the direct cost of returning the goods.

H. Refunds

Returned items may need to be inspected before a refund is approved. We will inform you of the outcome and explain any next steps.

Where a refund is due, it will generally be sent to the original payment method. After inspection and approval, SalesAkart processes the refund within 5 business days. The time for the funds to appear in your account may depend on the payment provider or financial institution. This processing commitment does not override a statutory deadline: for example, ECTA section 44(3) requires a refund for a qualifying cooling-off cancellation to be made within 30 days after cancellation.

Where available and agreed by you, store credit or a SalesAkart Wallet credit may be offered as an alternative. We will not substitute store credit for a cash refund where applicable law requires a refund to the original payment method or another specific remedy.

I. Exchanges and Replacements

If you need a different product, size or colour, contact us to confirm availability and the appropriate process. We may ask you to return the original item and place a new order. Defective or incorrect products will be handled according to applicable law and the circumstances of the case.

J. Warranty

Some products may carry a manufacturer or supplier warranty. The applicable warranty period and conditions will be shown on the product page or supplied with the product where available. A manufacturer warranty does not replace the implied warranty of quality under CPA section 56, which may allow a consumer to return goods that fail the standards in CPA section 55 within six months of delivery, subject to the Act's provisions.
